The holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Heller [1803-1884] the famed Rav of Safed, a descendant of the author of the Tosfot Yom Tov Rabbeinu Yom Tov Lipman Heller. In his youth, he lived in the house of the Chozeh of Lublin and was blessed by him. Immigrated to the Holy Land by his advice in 1810 and after the passing of the holy Rav Rabbi Avraham Dov Mevritch the author of Bat Ayin, Rabbi Shmuel was appointed the Rav of Safed, a position he held for forty years, until his passing. Was also knowledgeable in medicine and pharmacy, bringing relief to the Jews of Safed.
Worn, semi-leather bindings. Stains. Moth holes. Fair-good condition.
